My personal recommendations

Hi, I am an architect who grew up in Chichster where I have designed my own houses in the City centre with a plot that feels rural. The best of both worlds. I have 3 children, all grown up and now work some of my time in London on national and international design projects. I enjoy everything that Chichester has to offer where this unique City has inspired so many of my generations in the arts. The lane my houses are on was named after my father who was a local artist.

WEST WITTERING BEACH

Fantastic beach with all the amenities that you want plus the AOB section of the dunes at the end of the car park to get away from the crowd - well, most of the time.

CHURCH NORTON

A very Local knowledge Beach with a beautiful walk from the small car park around Pagham Harbour and to the pebbled sea front. parking in peak times difficult but go around 4pm mid summer for a great late afternoon swim. Go to the Crab and Lobster Siddlesham afterwards for a great meal and drink. Booking recommended.

CHICHESTER FESTIVAL THEATRE

Chichester Festival Theatre is a theatre and Grade II* listed building situated in Oaklands Park in the city of Chichester, West Sussex, England.[1] Designed by Philip Powell and Hidalgo Moya, it was opened by its founder Leslie Evershed-Martin in 1962. The smaller and more intimate Minerva Theatre was built nearby in 1989.

The inaugural Artistic Director was Sir Laurence Olivier, and it was at Chichester that the first National Theatre company was formed. Chichester's productions would transfer to the NT's base at the Old Vic in London. Visit here.

PALLANT HOUSE GALLERY

Architect Long & Kentish with Colin St John Wilson designed the extension to the Grade I-listed Pallant House in Chichester after MJ Long and her husband Colin St John Wilson decided to donate their personal collection of modern British art to the gallery in the 1990s. The light and airy space, which opened in 2006, has been designed as the best possible way to display modern art. Colin previously designed the national Library in London. Visit here.
